LG’s V20 smartphone was hugely popular last year and its predecessor, the LG V10 also saw similar success. So it comes as no surprise that there is plenty of hype for the handset next in line. Although there is no official name for the upcoming LG’s flagship phone, we expect it to be named the LG V30 going by the trend.
Today, a new leak gives us a glimpse into what the LG V30 could look like. This latest leak shows a series of images in full detail, tipping off most details. Based on these images, the phone measures approximately 151.4 x 75.2 x 7.4mm. We can see a huge 6-inch display on the front with rounded corners. However, there is no secondary display in sight. A dual-camera setup mounts the rear of the smartphone along with a fingerprint scanner. The headphone jack is seen positioned at the top edge of the device.
When it comes to the design, the LG V20 offered a super lightweight aluminum build with thin bezels plus a sleek and stylish finish to it. At the heels of it, the LG V30 follows the example of a light-weight slim looking design. It is also quite possible that it may take some pointers from its successful G6 sibling, offering a premium look, an almost bezel-less display, and even the dual-camera setup.
Yet another noteworthy feature of the upcoming LG V30 is its all-screen display, which is rumoured to be coming in OLED form rather than the company’s preferred choice of LCD. In addition to this, Google recently confirmed through its May I/O keynote that the next LG flagship would be Daydream ready. Interestingly, all devices compatible with Daydream use the AMOLED displays instead of LCD, now including the Galaxy S8.
There was a recent leak of some old mockups of the LG V30, dubbed as Project Joan. The renders showed a slide-out display, unlike its predecessors where the secondary display was at the top of the main display. However, it is most likely that the V30 may not be heading in this direction.
Chances are that the LG V30 will run on the yet unannounced Android O. It would make sense since Google is already collaborating with LG in regards to Daydream. To support the Daydream, the phone needs a sufficiently powerful chip and for this very reason, the LGV30 might sport the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC.
As for its availability, we can hazard a guess that the LG V30 will be announced sometime in August or September this year. According to a report from a Korean news outlet, LG’s next flagship is expected to be announced on August 31, a day before Berlin’s IFA 2017 technology show pulls off.
