Hathway, the country's MSO and broadband service provider, said that it has launched Electronic KYC (E-KYC) for LCOs or local cable operators.

KYC

"With the launch of the E-KYC process, we truly comply with TRAI's directive in easing out customer experience which will prove to be an important stepping-stone," T.S. Panesar, President-Video Business, Hathway Cable & Datacom Limited said.

The launch is aimed at strengthening and creating efficiency in the KYC process as defined & stipulated by the telecom regulator, TRAI. In a recent directive, TRAI has officially recognized E-KYC as a key enabler of digital technology to bring in efficiency in managing services to subscribers.

Currently, LCOs maintain a huge chunk of paper forms which is tedious and a complex process. With the E-KYC, the entire distribution chain including the LCO will be able to easily store millions of forms in a lesser operational cost, thus, simplifying their daily business and improving customer relationship.

The E-KYC feature enables updation of customer details including Proof Of Identity (POI), Proof of Address (POA) & Customers' digital photograph using a dedicated APP at his doorstep while also activating the customers' set-top-box in almost real-time basis. The detailed process flow includes authenticating customers' through their digital signature on smartphone or via a OTP generated on the registered mobile number which is followed by the CRF being generated.

The same will be circulated to the customer in person & also stored digitally, which can be easily accessed by the LCO as well, the company said. The E-KYC feature will be available on 'Hathway Connect' for LCOs to manage their customer base.
