Google Android One enters Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka

It is not long ago when Google launched its ambitious Android One smartphones in India in partnership with Micromax, Spice and Karbonn few months back in September. Reports also suggested that Google is also planning to expand the Android One program to other Asian countries too. So keeping in line with the reports, Google has finally launched the Android One program in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh’s homegrown company, Symphony, will be launching the first Android One phone named, Symphony Roar A50, in addition to already established vendors Micromax, Karbonn and Spice, said Google. These smartphones will be running on stock-Android with updates from Google. Moreover, last week Spice and Google partnered to launch Spice Dream UNO H, which is a full Hindi version of Dream UNO to target the Hindi-speaking users in India.




Android-One

A vast range of manufacturers and network partners like Banglalink will initiate the sale of Android One smartphones, Google mentioned on its official blog. Few months ago, Google has also partnered with OEMs such as Acer, Alcatel, ASUS, HTC, Intex, Lava, Lenovo, Panasonic and Xolo for producing more Android One smartphones. The sale of Google Android One devices in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will commence in few weeks.

Caesar Sen Gupta, VP, Product Management at Google, said,”With more hardware and carriers launching Android One phones in more countries, we’re excited to see the diverse array of devices our partners will offer in 2015 and beyond.”he said.
