For “BB Home Combo UL 625 CS1″ revised speed of 512 kpbs remains only for first 5gb usage. After 5gb usage it gets back to 256kbps.

Recently, I have changed to BSNL 900UL combo plan, before to this ,I was having limited 500plan that time , I used to get 2mbps(D/L) & 512kbps(U/L), after changing to the new plan the D/L got changed to 4 mbps whereas the U/L got reduced to 380kbps, on enquiry BSNL exchange people are telling that this the correct Cap on speed availability, could anyone please confirm or share the exact elligibilty of speed for selected plan?

Yes I am using the same plan. here is the UL and DL speeds:

BB Home UL 750 seems to be more attractive in this cellular era, instead of paying of Rs. 900 for BB Home Combo ULF 900 and getting only 256 kbps throughout the month (8GB limit exhausted within a day. BB Home UL 750 provides an assured 512 throughout. Unless, they increase the speed, the scheme will have its own natural death. The obsolete technology of BSNL seldom allow you to have precise estimate of your calls, whether you have exceeded 400 free calls or not, even people like us use more cell phone rather than land phone. I request BSNL to increase the speed to 512 consistently throughout rather than 256 kbs.

There is no connectivity for helpline NO 1500 and 1504 when ever we want to lodge complaint we get a recorded message that you han dialed wrong No oe dialed wrong STD code etc.It seems that using this for Broadband complaint it is waistage of time of coustmers.I have recently opted Wi-Fi modemI find waistage of time for lack of connectvity and going for switching off and again switching off .All the complaints have no effect. This modem works with computer and while stats using Lap Top ,out of ten times I hind connectivity for on four times at single starts
I feel why I have shifted from Airtel Broad Band Services

Throwing 1350 for speed upto 512 kbps seems wastage of money. if BSNL wwon’t continue providing enhanced speed then we will have to think about airtel’s 1300 ul plan. As atleast it provides 1 MBPS during night.

C’mon BSNL cheer up don’t be conservative. you are the largest broadband provider in India. Go and set up a competition and a solid example. This will further result in drop in tarrifs.

Yeah, I was surprised by the sudden increase in speed. I googled for any info regarding this increase, and was happy to see this post. Thanks for the details. Keep it up! Its a good move by BSNL if the change is permanent, since its competitors are providing better speed for around the same price. I am using UL 750 and my speed is reaching around 60 KBps. Hope its a permanent change.

Its not permanent and I found out just now with the helpdesk. Till end of this month it is available and then again back to 512kpbs (1350ULplus plan). BSNL should have realized by now ki all other service providers are giving 1mpbs without any fair-usage policy… dont know when this buggers are going to wake-up. By the was am using 1350UL connection for almost 3 years and no issues :P

IMPORTANT->BSNL’s DNS servers are too slow and sometimes doesn’t response in busy hours.
Solution->Use OpenDNS servers [go to http://www.openDNS.com for more info]
FACTS->BSNL DNS response time : 60 milliseconds and OpenDNS response time : 300 milliseconds [Tested | rounded figures]
*OpenDNS takes longer time though it guaranties that you always get webpage.
*Some ADSL modem+Routers disconnects the connection when they fail to get DNS response means because of DNS problem you get disconnected by your modem.

Mr. Sanjay , I want to know that the increase in speed is Temporary or Permanent?

its temporary valid till 30.04.2010 .

Yes, I observed the speed from yesterday. From Last one month the service was pathetic. It was disconnecting intermittently. now I can see my “Home UL 1350 Plus” upgraded. But still I get an average 90KB*8=720Kbps instead of 1024Kbps. Need to see how good BSNL offers compared to AIRTEL or Tikona

Isnt there something wrong with the BSNL Maths? For example:

Plan: BB Home Combo ULF 1000
Existing Bandwidth Speed: 1 Mbps upto 9 GB, 256 Kbps beyond 9 GB
Revised Bandwidth speed: 2 Mbps upto 9 GB, 256 Kbps beyond 9 GB

Upto 9GB, they are doubling it. But beyond 9GB, there is no change! This is true for other similar plans!

If this offer is a limited for 1 month, then they could have used complete Maths on the above plans! :)
