Xplore Connects Over 27,000 Homes and Businesses in Quebec With fibre Internet
Canadian provider of rural broadband solutions Xplore has announced reaching another milestone in its expansive network project in Quebec. Xplore has announced that over 27,000 homes and businesses across multiple Municipal Regional Counties (MRCs), including Pontiac, Les Sources, Vallee de la Gatineau, La Tuque, and Papineau, are now connected to high-speed fibre Internet.

Enhancing Connectivity for Residents

With more than 95 percent of the construction phase now complete, Xplore said its fiber project is enhancing rural living in these areas. The initiative has received support from Operation Haute Vitesse, a program contributing to the advancement of high-speed internet connectivity.

Xplore's fibre network will span 2,700 kilometres, facilitating connectivity for over 33,000 residences and businesses across rural Quebec, with internet speeds reaching up to 1 Gbps. According to Xplore, the project remains on track for completion by September.

Xplore stated: "With each new connection, Xplore demonstrates its commitment to providing better broadband experiences to residents and businesses in the province. Supported by our partners in government, we are empowering Quebec residents to make the most of rural living."

Progress Updates

Xplore has provided progress updates for each MRC as follows:

Pontiac: Construction is nearing completion at 99 percent, set to enable nearly 8,000 homes within the region with fibre connectivity.
Les Sources: Construction has been successfully completed for over 3,500 homes and businesses in this area.
Vallee de la Gatineau: More than 5,500 premises, constituting 70 percent, are now capable of connecting to the fibre network.
La Tuque: Construction is currently at 85 percent completion and is expected to extend gigabit-speed fibre Internet to over 1,300 premises by the end of September.
Papineau: Nearly 70 percent, equivalent to more than 9,400 premises, can now access fibre Internet through Xplore.

Xplore is building fibre optic and 5G wireless networks to provide enhanced broadband services, ensuring a better quality of life for current and future generations in rural areas in Canada.
