Year 2013 will be the year to reckon with stupendous growth in Android tablet market in India. Even more so, this revolution swept the mid- range tablet segment. Here we are presenting the comparative analysis of 2013’s performance powerhouses, the Xolo Play Tegra Note vs 2013 Nexus 7. Here is all you should know before picking up one of the two-

Display- Nexus 7 has got a 7-inch (1920 x 1200) IPS LCD display with  323 ppi  of pixel density. This proves good enough to beat Xolo Play Tegra Note’s 7 inches (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS capacitive touch screen with 216 ppi pixel density. The Nexus 7 starts the match with a point in its favour.

Processor and Chipset- Xolo Play Tegra Note runs on 1.8 GHz Quad-core Processor with Nvidia Tegra 4 chipset while Nexus 7 offers quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Hence, Xolo has a notch up over Nexus here and the raw performance the Xolo offering brings to the table is something the Nexus does not.

Camera-  Xolo Play Tegra Note shoots with the help of 5 MP rear camera and allows you to make video calls via Skype and other applications using 0.3 MP front camera. For doing the same, you will find a 5-megapixel auto-focus front camera and a 1.3 MP rear snapper in Nexus 7. Hence, Nexus 7 scores over Xolo due to a better front camera and a better picture quality.

Operating System- Nexus 7 has got Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS while its counterpart runs one version behind, i.e. Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Moreover, the Nexus 7 has already started getting the Kitkat update and will be updated in future as well which  the Xolo offering won’t be.

Memory Details- Nexus 7 comes with 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi models along with a 32GB Wi-Fi + LTE model. On the other hand, Xolo Play Tegra Note comes with 16 GB internal memory version with memory card slot for further expansion up to 32 GB. I’ll leave it to you to decide this one according to your needs.

Connectivity-  Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, microUSB v2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-FI Direct come with both devices. However, Nexus 7 can give you 3G option which you can’t find with Xolo’s device.

Price- The Xolo offering can be bought for Rs 18,000 while the Nexus 7 pricing starts at Rs 20,999. The Nexus 7 costs more but it has enough going in its favour to justify the price tag.

Conclusion- For a better processor and lesser price, we can give it to the Xolo Play Tegra Note for the sheer power that it brings with it. The minute difference in front camera specification can be ignored if we also factor in the price difference. However, you can go with Nexus 7 if you want the 3G option and can suffice without expandable storage. My choice: Nexus 7. What about you?
