Xiaomi Redmi 8A Appears on TEENA With Single Rear Camera and Teardrop Notch

Xiaomi Redmi 8A launch seems to be right around the corner as the phone has now paid a visit to China's certification website TEENA. The Redmi 8A will come as a successor to the Redmi 7A that was launched just a few months ago. For the unaware, Xiaomi has been refreshing its entry-level and budget smartphones for every six-eight months and it seems to continue with the Redmi 8A as well. It was rumoured that Xiaomi would launch both Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A at an event sometime next month. This TEENA listing reveals the Redmi 8A launch might happen by the end of this month itself. Sadly, the listing did not reveal the spec-sheet of the smartphone, but on the brighter side, it has the images of the Redmi 8A though. That being said, there's no confirmation that the smartphone spotted on TENAA is Redmi 8A, but it lacks a fingerprint scanner, so we believe the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone is a successor to the Redmi 7A.

Xiaomi Redmi 8A Complete Design Revealed by TENAA

Xiaomi's Redmi A lineup of phones secure the majority of market share for the brand. Starting with the Redmi 4A, the series offered something unique to the buyers and the Redmi 8A may not be an exception in that list. Going by the images, the Redmi 8A will arrive in Blue colour, similar to the Redmi 7A and there will be a single rear camera accompanied with a single LED flash. Upfront, the phone seems to have a teardrop notch as the front-facing camera is placed precisely at the top centre. It will be a decent upgrade if Xiaomi uses a teardrop notch on the Redmi 8A.

The screen size appears to be on the smaller size which does not surprise many considering how compact the earlier Redmi A phones are including the Redmi 7A. As noted, the TENAA listing did not reveal any hardware specifications of the Redmi 8A which is a disappointment, but we're expecting the Chinese certification website to update the specs in the upcoming days.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Specifications and Features

The Redmi 7A is the latest 'A' series smartphone from Xiaomi and it's priced at Rs 5,999 for the base variant. The Redmi 7A is the cheapest phone in India to come with Snapdragon 439 SoC, something which we have seen on phones priced around and above Rs 10,000. The phone comes in two variants- 2GB+16GB priced at Rs 5,999 and 2GB+32GB priced at Rs 6,199. The Redmi 7A lacks a fingerprint scanner, but it comes with Face Unlock functionality.

The phone rocks a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has a single rear camera of 12MP and a single front-facing camera of 8MP. Xiaomi has upgraded the battery to 4000mAh on the Redmi 7A and we're expecting the Redmi 8A to retain the same. Right now, we don't have the exact launch date of the Redmi 8A, but it should go official by the end of this month, considering it already paid a visit to TENAA.
