Redmi 6 is the New Xiaomi Smartphone to Get a Price Cut of Up to Rs 1,500

Since the start of this week, Xiaomi has made five announcements- of which four of them are price cuts and the other one is Mi TV and Mi Soundbar announcements. Today, Xiaomi has made another price cut announcement on the popular Redmi 6 smartphone. The Redmi 6, whose price was increased a couple of months ago, has now received a price drop of Rs 1,500. Xiaomi's Redmi 6 comes in two variants- 3GB+32GB and 3GB+64GB, and the new prices are Rs 7,999 and Rs 8,999. Notably, the base variant's price is back to the launch price, while the premium variant received a price cut for the first time since the launch. Xiaomi made this announcement on Twitter stating that the new prices are already effective at Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Home and other offline stores.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Gets a Price Cut

Aforesaid, Xiaomi made this announcement on Twitter and the new prices of the Redmi 6 are Rs 7,999 and Rs 8,999. To recall, the Redmi 6 was launched in India during September 2018, with the prices of Rs 7,999 and Rs 9,499. Later on, Xiaomi increased the price of the base variant to Rs 8,499, courtesy of the depreciating rupee against US dollar. Today, Xiaomi has brought back the price of the base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage to Rs 7,999, which is the launch price. And for the first time, it reduced the price of the premium variant of Redmi 6 with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and it now retails for Rs 8,999.

This week itself, Xiaomi has reduced prices of four smartphones- Mi A2, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Y2 and the Redmi 6 Pro. The Mi A2 comes in two variants- priced at Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,999. The Redmi Note 5 Pro can now be purchased for Rs 12,999 and Rs 13,999. The Redmi Y2, on the other hand, starts at Rs 8,999 for the base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the 4GB+64GB option now costs Rs 10,999. Lastly, the Redmi 6 Pro can be purchased for Rs 9,999, which is an excellent price for the smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi 6: Specifications and Features

The Redmi 6 was amongst the two Xiaomi smartphone to sport a MediaTek chipset. The Redmi 6 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The phone also offers a dedicated microSD card for storage expansion. Unlike the Redmi 5 which arrived with a metal back, the Redmi 6 sports polycarbonate body with a metallic finish. Also, the Redmi 6 lacks the IR Blaster, which has been one of the essential features on a Xiaomi smartphone.

The smartphone flaunts a 5.45-inch HD+ display on the front and it even has dual rear cameras of 12MP+5MP on the back. The phone offers Dual 4G and comes backed by a 3000mAh battery. It boots MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The Redmi 6 is currently available for purchase in four colour options-
