The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi has started rolling out the much-awaited MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for compatible devices. Xiaomi had launched the latest version of its MIUI skin at an event in New Delhi last week, now the company has started pushing the update to the eligible devices. The smartphones which will receive this update first will include Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, Redmi S2, and Redmi Note 5 Pro (India)/ Redmi Note 5. Also, the company had previously decided that it would roll out the new MIUI for Mi 6 users as well, but the idea was later scrapped and suspended. It is also noteworthy that Xiaomi had started recruiting Beta testers for the new ROM only last week.

In the MIUI Forum post, the company revealed that it is starting to ship the new MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM to the first lot of devices. This new update which loads the version 8.6.14, brings a whole lot of new improvements and features onto the Xiaomi devices. Some of them are - Mi Browser with an optimised start page, PWA (Progressive Web App) support, better search functionality and App Vault with a World Cup card. Also, the new update addresses the problem of Greek language localisation.

Since this version of the MIUI 10 is the beta build, it is only being extended to a handful of devices which have recently been launched in the market by Xiaomi. However, the stable build of the MIUI 10 will start rolling out in the month of September, and that ROM will be supported for more Xiaomi devices, including some old models.

Users who are currently using any of the abovementioned eligible devices with the MIUI 9 running on it and have also registered for the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM will be able to check for the latest MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM by heading to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for updates. There is also an alternative option for people running the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM. They can use the Updater app to download the latest ROM. For advanced users who would like to flash the ROM on their phones manually, will have to wait for the ROM download links since the company hasn’t provided the links yet.

The MIUI 10 brings a lot of improvements over the previous version including speed, design, and sound. The new ROM also features an AI-based Portrait mode. Xiaomi has also claimed that the overall smoothness in the phones will go up by over 10% in comparison to the previous ROM. The new ROM also comes with full screen display gestures along with a latest Recents view that is based on the MIUI Notes App. Lastly, there are also new system apps, including Weather and Calendar which come with the MIUI 10.
