Putting an end to countless rumours and speculations, Xiaomi today announced its latest flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 6 at an event in Beijing, China. While the Indian launch date of the phone is still unknown at the time of writing this article, the phone will surely turn the tables when it comes to the country. All the specs and details regarding the phone have already leaked online ahead of its official launch.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a new four-sided 3D glass design which makes the phone look absolutely gorgeous. The phone comes with the same 5.15-inch Full HD display as the Mi 5, but Xiaomi claims that they have improved the brightness levels of the phone.
Below the display, there’s a fingerprint sensor embedded under the glass. The button, while not clickable, can perform various actions. Under-the-hood, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, paired with 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 835 SoC is a 64-bit chip built on 10nm manufacturing process.
In line with the earlier leaks, the Mi 6 comes with dual lens camera at the rear. There are two 12MP sensors at the back with one standard sensor used to capture RGB shots, while the other 12MP sensor acts as a telephoto lens to capture zoomed images. Xiaomi has included an 8MP front-facing camera to the phone for selfies and video calls.
As rumours suggested, Xiaomi ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack in favour of the USB Type-C audio. However, the company has added two front-facing stereo speakers to the phone for better audio output as the Xiaomi Mi 5 disappointed masses out there with its audio performance.
The phone also has a 2 x 2 Dual Wi-Fi support promising better speed and longer range. The Mi 6 also comes with the support for NFC for Mi Pay in China. It also has a larger 3340 mAh battery, which is capable of delivering a full day battery life since the phone has a smaller display with FHD resolution.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be available in Blue, Black, and White colours along with an exclusive Silver colour edition, which looks absolutely stunning. The smartphone is priced at 2499 Yuan (approx Rs. 23,400) for the 6GB+64GB storage variant. The 6GB+128GB option ships for 2899 Yuan (approx. Rs. 27,200). The Premium Ceramic model costs 2999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 28,200). Xiaomi did not announce any details regarding the availability of the phone in India.
