The Xiaomi Mi Mix was the smartphone which stirred the entire tech industry with its gorgeous bezel-less display and top-notch hardware. The Mi Mix is also the reason for brands such as LG and Samsung going after bezel-less design smartphones. While Xiaomi partially confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 is already in the works, the company did not reveal when they're planning to launch the phone.
Today the smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench benchmarking site, which revealed the phone would be powered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM. At the time of the benchmarking, the device was running the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, and it might be MIUI 9.
Xiaomi last month invited Philippe Starck, the famous designer to their headquarters in China to discuss the design of the Mix 2. The Mi Mix 2 will also come with a bezel-less design. The Mi Mix was launched in November 2016, so expect the Mi Mix 2 to arrive at the same time this year as well. However, the only letdown with the Mi Mix was Xiaomi did not launch it in India and many other countries where they are operating.
Besides the Geekbench listing, the Mi Mix 2 was leaked earlier as well. The smartphone may pack a 6.4-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The display will be a bezel-less one, same as the Xiaomi Mi Mix, but there will be slight changes in the design of the phone. The Mi Mix had the front-facing camera below the display at an awkward position, but this year, Xiaomi might integrate it at the top by cutting out the display slightly, same as the Essential smartphone released recently.
The phone is expected to have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent. The Mi Mix 2 may have 8GB of RAM as well. The smartphone is claimed to pack a single 19MP rear camera, along with a better 13MP front-facing camera. And there might be a 4500mAh battery powering the device.
Xiaomi disappointed everyone by not launching the phone in India, although the device made its way to some countries recently, it never came to India. Hopefully, Xiaomi launches the Mi Mix 2 in India.
