Bezel-less Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone is fragile, breaks at a fall

The world wooed at the bezel-less Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone when it got launched a few days back. Designed by Philippe Starck, this smartphone is made out of ceramics (back panel, frame, and buttons), with a unibody construction. It has a staggering 6.4-inch LCD edgeless display having an impressive scree-to-body ratio of 91.3%.

Mi Mix

Now a recent news from MyDrivers has made the world skeptical about the new Xiaomi Mi Mix. According to the report, the device reportedly slipped out of the hand of a customer at Xiaomi’s store in Hangzhou. The result was a disaster that not only the display but also its black ceramic body was broken.

The image below shows the broken Xiaomi Mi Mix. The fall is a proof that Mi Mix doesn’t feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass protection. Meanwhile, the specifications of Mi Mix looks impressive. It boasts of a 16 MP main camera with dual-LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. The camera is capable of recording 4K/1080p/720p at 30 fps and roll in slow-motion at 120 fps. It also features autofocus phase detection, facial recognition, and panorama mode. The secondary camera of the phone is a 5MP, which also captures 1080 pixels video.

Xiaomi Mi Mix is powered by Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 821 at 2.35 GHz coupled with Adreno 530 graphics. The phone comes in two storage variants — 128 GB with 4 GB RAM, and 256 GB paired with 6 GB RAM. This 256GB storage is a limited edition variant.
