Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi unveiled a new red colour variant of the Mi A1, namely, Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red. The special edition comes three months after the official launch of the device in September. As per the official poster, the Mi A1 comes with a pure red back cover and sides while the front bezels remain black. The red colour makes the metallic look of the phone shine even more. Currently, the Mi A1 Red Edition is exclusive to Indonesia. Hopefully, Xiaomi launches it in India as well.
With the launch of Mi A1 Special Edition Red, consumers now have four options to choose from Red, Black, Gold and Rose Gold colours. If you recall, two months back, Xiaomi launched a special Red edition of the Mi 5X smartphone. For the unaware, the Mi A1 is a revised version of Mi 5X with stock Android on board.
In terms of specs, it is identical to the original Mi A1. The Xiaomi Mi A1 sports a 5.50-inch IPS LCD with Full HD (1080 x 1920) resolution and 401ppi pixel density. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass from unwanted scratches.
Under the hood, a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB RAM powers the device. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The highlight of the Mi A1 is the dual camera configuration in the rear. Xiaomi has armed the Mi A1 with dual 12MP sensors, one of which is used for telephoto zooming while other for wide-angle shots. The wide-angle lens comes with f/2.2 aperture while the telephoto zoom lens comes with f/2.6 aperture. The dual cameras let you take bokeh shots, and you also get unlimited storage on Google Photos. Up front is a 5MP selfie shooter with real-time beautification feature.
The Mi A1 is backed by a non-removable 3,080mAh Li-ion battery. On the connectivity front, the options include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port. Xiaomi Mi A1 is covered under the Android One, which means you get stock Android Nougat out-of-the-box. Further, you are guaranteed OS upgrades from Google itself.
As for the price, Xiaomi’s Mi A1 Special Edition is priced for the same amount as the original Xiaomi A1. Xiaomi recently slashed the price of A1 by Rs 1000, meaning you can grab the 64GB version for Rs 13999.
