WhatsApp seems to be keeping itself busy by looking to unify all the platforms with a similar set of features. After rolling out the Live Location feature to Android and iOS users, WhatsApp is readying the feature for Windows Phone users as well. The WhatsApp Beta 2.18.30 for Windows Phone has been submitted to the Windows Store, and it has all the references to Live Location feature. And the best part is the feature will be made available to the public with the next beta release. Alongside this feature, the new beta update also brought a couple of new features- search participants in a group and the new 'Download My Data' option based on General Data Protection Regulation, which will be implemented the latest by May 25, 2018.
Firstly, let's speak about what features added in the 2.18.30 beta update. As it rolled out to Android and iOS users recently, WhatsApp has rolled out the search participants feature to Windows Phones users now. With this feature, users can search a group participant by heading over to Group Info section. An extremely useful feature if your group is full of 256 members.
Now, let's talk about the features to be added in the forthcoming updates. Firstly, as stated, WhatsApp is in final stages of testing the Live Location feature, and it might be rolled out in the next update itself, as per WABetaInfo. And like in Android and iOS platforms, WhatsApp will allow users to share live location for 15 minutes, 1 hour and 8 hours. That said, once shared, users can stop sharing the live location anytime they're willing to.
And WhatsApp also implemented the 'Download My Data' option in the latest WhatsApp Beta for Windows Phone. This feature complies with General Data Protection Regulation set by the French government, allowing users to download their data. WhatsApp has rolled out this feature for Android and iOS platforms. This feature will be effective by May 25, 2018.
WhatsApp is also working on Stickers Store for Windows Phone users along with group voice, video calls feature.
