Idea Cellular has rolled out a mega cashback offer on all new 4G smartphones in a bid to counter Reliance Jio's “JioFootball” cashback offer. Idea’s latest promotional offer is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers who purchase a new 4G smartphone. To provide the offer, both the telecom operators partnered with several smartphone brands to bring down the price of the smartphone.
Idea “Mega Cashback” Offer
The new cashback offer announced by Idea Cellular is available for both prepaid and postpaid users. Customers can purchase any smartphone under the offer starting February 23. The service provider has also announced that the offer will only be available until April 30, 2018.
As part of the offer, Idea is offering cashback of Rs 2,000 on all new 4G smartphones. Idea prepaid customers will have to recharge their devices with Rs 199 or above, each month to be eligible for the cashback. Or the customers can recharge with longer validity packs of Rs 398, Rs 449, Rs 459 and Rs 509 instead of monthly Rs 199 recharges.
Idea prepaid subscribers will need to do a cumulative recharge of Rs 3,000 in the first 18 months to avail cashback of Rs 750. The remaining cashback of Rs 1,250 will be credited at the end of next 18 months if the cumulative recharge for the period is Rs 3,000.
For the Idea postpaid customers, they can also avail the cashback if they're using the Idea Nirvana postpaid plan above Rs 389.
Reliance Jio “JioFootball” Offer
Reliance Jio introduced promotional scheme dubbed “JioFootball” Offer. Under this program, the telco is offering Rs 2200 instant cashback on purchasing a new 4G smartphone. Reliance Jio has partnered with some mobile brands to make the offer available to them. If a customer purchases the eligible device and inserts a Jio SIM card for the first time on or after February 15, 2018, then they will be eligible for the cashback offer. The limited period offer lasts until March 31, 2018.
Jio is offering 44 vouchers of Rs 50 on the first recharge of Rs 198 and Rs 299 on the new smartphone, which amounts in total to Rs 2200. These vouchers can be redeemed instantly against subsequent recharges of Rs 198/299 on MyJio application, the company said via its official website, Jio.com.
It is worth noting that the JioFootball offer is available only on select handsets by a particular brand. Many popular devices such as Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Xiaomi Mi A1, Redmi Note 4, Moto G5S Plus, Honor 7X, Honor 9i are eligible. But unfortunately, flagship Samsung smartphones are not covered, and neither are iPhone series.
In comparison to JioFootball, Idea’s Mega Cashback offer is applicable for all 4G smartphones, unlike Jio which offers the promo for select devices only. However, Jio is offering instant cashback of 44 Rs 50 vouchers whereas Idea subscribers will have to wait for 18 months for their first cashback of Rs 750 and after another 18 months for subsequent Rs 1250 transfer.
This means Idea customers will have to stick with the network for 3 years to avail the benefits. As always it seems Jio has a much beneficial offer though Idea definitely scores ahead as their promo is applicable for all handsets.
