Premium and Generation clients can choose to receive a complimentary 10GB travel eSIM, valid for one calendar year after activation. The company said the eSIM can be easily installed through the Wealthsimple app, enabling immediate online access upon arrival at their destination. The eSIM works across multiple regions, requiring activation only once, and can be used alongside a primary physical SIM or eSIM.

 Trends in eSIM Adoption

Wealthsimple cited Juniper Research, which indicates that travel eSIM adoption is expected to surge by 440 percent over the next five years, driven by demand for high-speed browsing and streaming while traveling.

Reportedly, in 2024, travellers spent an average of USD 85 for every 10GB of roaming data. Wealthsimple's travel eSIM aims are expected to eliminate these surprise costs, allowing users to browse, post, and stream without worry.
