Viavi Solutions has launched Nitro Fiber Sensing, a real-time asset monitoring and analytics solution designed to protect and optimise critical infrastructure. The solution targets industries such as oil, gas, water pipelines, electrical power transmission, border security, and data center interconnects, Viavi said on Wednesday.

NITRO Fiber Sensing
The company said Nitro Fiber Sensing combines Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), Simultaneous Temperature and Strain Sensing (DTSS), and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technologies.
It utilises remote Fiber Test Heads (FTH) to monitor fiber optic cables, measuring temperature, strain, and detecting acoustic vibrations in real-time. These FTHs, strategically placed along power cables and pipelines, provide vital data for proactive maintenance and downtime prevention.
Real-Time Alerts
Operators receive real-time alerts about potential threats, including human interference, vehicle movement, and encroachments by fishing nets or ship anchors, with precise location information for swift response, the official release said.
