Sao Jose dos Campos, the birthplace of Brazil's aerospace industry, is poised to take a significant technological leap forward as TIM Brazil announces the activation of 5G in the last week of June. The Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA), the National Institute of Space Research (INPE), and the Technological Park of Sao Jose dos Campos, linked to the City Hall of the city, are set to benefit from TIM's 5G rollout strategy.

Rapid Expansion and Deployment Strategy
These institutions will have access to the 5G mobile networks during the Space Studies Program 2023 (SSP23), organized by the International Space University. TIM says it will provide exclusive 5G coverage for the duration of the SSP23.
As part of TIM's comprehensive rollout plan, 21 neighbourhoods in Sao Jose dos Campos will initially be equipped with TIM's 5G network by July, covering approximately 60 percent of the city. TIM says the activation of 5G in Sao Jose dos Campos is part of the wider deployment strategy across the country.
TIM has emerged as a top player in 5G technology since its implementation in mid-2022, boasting more than half of the country's 5G antennas. TIM Brazil has deployed over 1,500 antennas in the Sao Paulo state, according to the statement.
TIM Brazil says, "TIM has a history of partnerships with the most relevant research and innovation centres in the country, and our presence at the Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica demonstrates our commitment to expanding 5G in Brazil. With over 5,000 antennas distributed across all states and rapid expansion, we continue to implement 5G projects throughout the country."

Unlocking Potential for Aerospace Research
The activation of 5G technology in Sao Jose dos Campos holds immense promise for the local community, particularly in the field of aerospace research and development. "The ITA, INPE, and the Parque Tecnologico de Sao Jose dos Campos will leverage the high-speed and low-latency capabilities of 5G networks to enhance their research efforts and foster innovation in the region," said TIM Brazil.
The Space Studies Program 2023, running until August 25, will serve as a catalyst for exploring the vast potential of 5G in the realm of space education and research.
