TataSky the second largest DTH operator by subscriber base is all set to launch 10 new HD channels on its platform. The operator had earlier been facing severe bandwidth crunch on its Insat-4A due to which it shifted to MPEG-4 platform so as to be able to beam more number of channels and later also acquired additional bandwidth on GSAT-10 which means it currently has access to 24 transponders which is the highest in the industry currently.
We reported in Feb how TataSky added a bulk of 49 new SD channels to its arsenal bringing up the total to 462 channels and services including 51 HD channels and services. Now with this bulk HD channel addition, the operator will become the DTH player with the most number of HD channels.
The list of new HD channels being added on 5th April:
- Romedy Now HD
- Baby Tv HD
- Da Vinci HD
- Nat Geo People HD
- Travel XP HD
- Nat Geo Music HD
- VH1 HD
- M TV Indies HD
- Mazhavil Manorama HD
- Naaptol HD
TataSky has recently hiked its package tariffs by 10% to defray the cost of addition of new channels and acquisition of higher bandwidth through added transponder capacity on the new satellite.
