2016 started as a promissory note with the Galaxy S7 for the South Korean smartphone giant, Samsung. As the year slowly passed on, there was a catastrophe created by the Galaxy Note 7. After a complete recall process, the phone was ultimately discontinued, but not before incurring a huge loss for the company.
With this major issue, Samsung will be already looking for their upcoming flagship phone- the Galaxy S8, which is scheduled to release at every MWC. And, as expected, rumors were saying that Samsung will launch the phone at MWC 2017.
Nevertheless, there are several other rumors as well regarding the phone and its hardware. But, do make a note that Samsung is currently testing various prototypes of the Galaxy S8 and as a result, many of these rumors won’t make a cut into the final design.
Let’s begin with the design itself. All the rumors till date suggested that Samsung will stick to the metal and glass body combination to the Galaxy S8 as well. Samsung is the only brand which is currently offering wireless charging with their flagship phones. So, to retain this feat, the company must stick to the glass body.

Of late, we have been listening rumors about a new variant of the Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S8 Plus with a massive 6-inch display. Now, this will raise several eyebrows regarding the Galaxy Note series existence. Yes, a new rumor appeared today revealed that Samsung might consider killing the Note series and the leak also suggested that the S8 Plus will feature the trademark- S Pen as well.
Samsung is not yet considering to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack, and the S8 will feature the new standard in smartphone space, the USB Type-C port. In terms of hardware, the Galaxy S8 will be packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with the all new 10nm manufacturing process. Also, the phone is expected to pack 8GB of RAM, but some rumors claimed that the phone would just feature 6GB of RAM, which is slowly becoming a norm in the smartphone space.
As far as the camera is concerned, the Galaxy S8 will feature a single 12MP camera on the rear with improved sensor, and the S8 Plus will pack a dual camera, much like how Apple differentiated the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Also, the phone’s display is expected to be a bezel-less one, but this was rumored just once.
Other speculations suggest that Samsung might release their AI assistant with the Galaxy S8 and there won’t be any hardware capacitive buttons. Instead, the company is considering to embed them into the screen itself.
As said earlier, these are just rumors, and the company officially confirmed none of the above leaks. So, we suggest you take these rumors with a pinch of salt.
