Recently, a few images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active were spotted online, which revealed how the device would look like. And now, a few presentation slides surfaced online revealed the complete specifications of the Galaxy S8 Active. The smartphone will be released in coming days and will be exclusive to the US market.
Samsung has been releasing Active versions of its flagship phone for years now, and this year is no different. The S8 Active sports the same internal hardware as the Galaxy S8, but externally, the phone will feature military grade certification. The S8 Active will have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, same as the Galaxy S8, and will also come with MIL-STD 810G standard for enhanced durability.
The South Korean smartphone maker has launched similar versions of the Galaxy S6 and S7 in the past as Galaxy S6 Active and Galaxy S7 Active. The previous Active smartphones sported physical keys for navigation, however, Samsung seems to have changed this design in the upcoming Galaxy S8 Active by replacing the rugged buttons with on-screen capacitive keys.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will come with a model number SM-G892A. It will feature the same 5.8-inch QHD+ display, as the Galaxy S8, and will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset. Sadly, today's leak shows that the phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The S8 Active will also have the same 12MP dual pixel camera as the Galaxy S8 duo, along with an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The device will be released in two colour options- Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold.
The differences between the Galaxy S8 and S8 Active will be the massive 4000mAh battery. And yes, the S8 Active will support wireless charging as well. The Bixby button replaces the Active button in the S8 Active. Connectivity options in the device include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v 5.1, NFC, and MST.
The smartphone will be released in coming days, before the Galaxy Note 8 itself.
