Samsung's 'Unpacked' event witnessed some of the major launches, including the announcement of the much-awaited Galaxy S6 edge+. The Galaxy S6 edge+ features a 5.7-inch QHD screen with 2560×1440 pixels resolution, and Super AMOLED curved edge display on both the sides. It comes powered by an octa-core (2.1GHz Cortex-A57 quad-core + 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) Exynos 7420 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM.
The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and sports a 16-megapixel camera on the rear with LED Flash, OIS, f/1.9 aperture, 4K video recording, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device also has 'Quick Launch' feature, which enables users to launch camera app instantly in less than a second, by simply double-tapping on the home button. In terms of design, the smartphone bears similar outlook as the Galaxy S6 edge, with Fingerprint sensor beneath the home button to facilitate services like Smart Lock, Samsung Pay and Heart-rate monitor.
The device will be available in two variants with 32GB/64GB non-expandable internal storage options and no microSD card support, just like its predecessor Galaxy S6 edge. The phone is backed by a 3,000 mAh of battery with fast wireless charging support that can fuel up the battery in approximately 120-minutes and in 90-minutes through a wired charger. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S6 edge+ supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB 2.0. The smartphone will be available in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, White Pearl, and Black Sapphire colors. Initially, the device has gone on sale in the U.S, with more regions to follow up.
