Samsung Galaxy A6+ and Galaxy A8 Star Get a Whopping Price Cut of Up to Rs 7,000 in India

Two Samsung phones, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ and Galaxy A8 Star have received price cuts in India. It’s worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy A6+ was launched back in May with a price tag of Rs 25,990. However, the company subsequently slashed the price of the phone down to Rs 23,990 and then down to Rs 21,990 in July and August respectively. Similarly, the other phone, the Galaxy A8 Star which is actually the global variant of the Galaxy A9 Star had debuted with a price tag of Rs 34,990 originally when it first came in the market. Both these phones which have received the price cut sport a dual rear camera setup and come with Samsung’s Infinity Display Design.

Best Buy Prices of Samsung Galaxy A6+ and Galaxy A8 Star

After this recent price cut, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ will be available with a “best buy” price of Rs 18,990 which is Rs 7,000 down from its original price of Rs 25,990. Similarly, the Galaxy A8 Star has been given a “best buy” price tag of Rs 29,990. The new prices were not instantly reflected on online marketplaces like Amazon or Samsung’s own online store.

Instead, Mumbai based Mahesh telecom tweeted about the price changes first. Although this is not the first time that the Galaxy A6+ hs received the price slash, but it is definitely the first time that we are seeing Samsung cut the price on the Samsung A8 Star. To recall, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star was launched in August with an initial price tag of Rs 34,990.

Samsung Galaxy A6+: Features and Specs

The Samsung Galaxy A6+ sports a 6-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display panel rendering a resolution of 1080x2220 pixels on an 18.5:9 aspect ratio screen. The phone is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the software front, the phone boots Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UX.

Speaking of the imaging on this phone, the device fashions a dual rear camera setup with a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture paired with a 5MP secondary sensor with a f/1.9 aperture. The phone sports a 24MP selfie snapper on the front which comes with f/1.9 aperture. Both the sensors on front and back come accompanied with LED. For connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For security, the phone gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and it packs a 3500mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A8 Star: Features and Specs

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star gets a 6.3-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display rendering a resolution of 1080x2160 pixels on a screen of 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC which works combined with 6GB of RAM. For imaging, the phone has a Dual Rear IntelliCam at the rear side comprising of 16MP and 24MP sensors with both the lenses having a f/1.7 aperture. The selfie snapper on this device is a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera on this device comes with support for Smart Beauty and Pro Lighting features along with AR Stickers. The front camera also powers the face unlock technology on the phone.

The Galaxy A8 Star gets 64GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 400GB. The connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This device also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The dimensions of the A8 Star measure 162.4x77x7.5mm and it packs a 3700mAh battery under the hood.
