Rogers to Deploy Comcast Access Network Design Across Its Footprint
Canadian telecommunications operator Rogers Communications announced that it will begin deploying Comcast's fiber-based access network design to deliver faster internet speeds, enhanced reliability, and lower latency across its entire footprint. Comcast has already made this system available to over 60 million homes and businesses in the US, the companies said in a joint statement.

AI and Cloud Integration

The architecture integrates artificial intelligence (AI), performs network functions in the cloud, and moves data processing closer to customers. AI identifies and resolves network issues before they affect users, while the cloud allows for more efficient use of network resources and the ability to scale capacity during demand spikes. By delivering services closer to end-users, the design reduces latency and ensures the highest-quality connections for activities such as streaming, gaming, and video conferencing, Rogers explained.

"We're continually investing in our national, coast-to-coast wireline network, which connects over 60 percent of Canadian households, to deliver the best network performance to our customers," said Rogers' Chief Technology Officer.

Path to DOCSIS 4.0 and Multi-Gig Speeds

Together, these integrated technologies will enable Rogers to provide a faster and more responsive internet experience. This will also pave the way for Rogers to roll out DOCSIS 4.0 Unified technology, offering symmetrical multi-gig speeds nationwide, along with enhanced reliability, performance, and security, according to the official release.

This partnership builds on a 10-year agreement Rogers announced earlier this year to bring Xfinity products and technology to Canadians nationwide.
