Reliance Jio, the largest telecom operator in India, has added more than six lakh 5G FWA (fixed-wireless access) and UBR (unlicensed band radio) users in November 2025. Now, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has started reporting FWA and UBR users separately. For now, UBR is only offered by Reliance Jio. In the FWA space, Jio and Airtel are the only telecom operators competing. Vodafone Idea (Vi) is yet to enter the space, even as the company has started deploying 5G.

Bharti Airtel had a total of 27,65,883 5G FWA users at the end of November 2025. The telco added 251,095 new users during the month. The numbers are close to what Jio reported in the FWA space, but Jio also had UBR, and that is why Jio's scale of business is much larger. Rolling out UBR services has helped Jio is rapidly growing its homes business. The telco is adding about a million new users in the home broadband space. Note that these numbers are just for the wireless fixed-broadband, there's also JioFiber, the fiber home broadband service from the company. The numbers there are separate and thus, allow Jio to add high-paying broadband users to its subscriber base. These users, in the medium to long-term will help Jio in boosting cashflow.
