Reliance Jio Infocomm, telecom arm of Reliance Industries and pan India BWA spectrum holder continues its effort to bring next generation 4G services to masses.
To bring India’s digital revolution Jio is not leaving a single stone untouched. For a grand 4G launch across the country Jio is hiring telecom professionals – around 7,000 people are recruited by last financial year, makes deals with several companies for infrastructure sharing, continues to set up its own wired and wireless network; and committing its effort to reach masses with their existing and new retail network.
After making infra sharing deals with Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, American Tower Corp and Viom Networks, Reliance Jio made the latest deal with Tower Vision, another independent tower company. Tower Vision owns 8,400 towers in the country and Jio will utilize these towers to roll out and offer 4G services.
At this point there could be more such deals by Jio, most importantly with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). The talks are already going on, and the deal may be to reality after new government comes with proper policy so that the deal between Jio and BSNL does not end into a chaos.
As I predicted before Jio is going to leverage its fiber optic backbone for FTTx services. Jio is actively laying OFC across circles and will also use Reliance Communications and Airtel’s existing OFC network. With this huge OFC network Reliance Jio plans to offer a bucket of digital services to the customers.
