By July 21st, 2017 AT 7:26 AM

Reliance Jio’s 4G VoLTE Feature Phone recently said to be unveiled on July 21, which is tomorrow. At the Reliance Industries Limited Annual General Meeting, the company’s Chairman Mukesh Ambani will announce the feature phone. The Jio 4G VoLTE supported feature phone is likely to arrive in two variants.

And today, a new report from 91mobiles claim that the feature phones will be up for pre-booking just a day after the official announcement, i.e., on July 22. The report also says that users whoever interested in getting a Jio 4G feature phone can head over to the offline store and pre-book the device.

However, the report did not reveal any details about the pre-booking price of the device’s pricing as well. It is expected that RJIL will release two feature phones branded by LYF (another sister company of Reliance Industries). One feature phone will use the Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform, while the other one might arrive with a Spreadtrum chip.

In the previous report, it was revealed that the manufacturing cost of the Qualcomm 205 variant was around $28 (approx. Rs. 1,800), while the Spreadtrum processor option’s production cost came around $27 (approx. Rs. 1,730). Also, the same report highlighted that the high MRP could be attributed to the recent implementation of GST.

Speaking about the specifications of the Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE Feature Phone, it will come with a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display. The image of the retail box displayed above says that the device will have a dual-core processor with a 1.2GHz CPU, which works in tandem with 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM.

This feature phone will accept two SIM cards- one would be a 4G SIM card, and the other one will be a 2G SIM card. Also, the terms and conditions in the box state that one SIM card slot should be used with a Reliance Jio 4G SIM card.

Apart from these, the feature phone will have a 2000mAh battery and will come bundled with a music/video player, along with an FM Radio app. There will be a VGA rear camera present as well.

Lastly, the Jio 4G feature phone will support LTE Cat 4 band with spectrum 850MHz, 1800MHz, and 2300MHz. And for the 2G network, the device will have network support in 900MHz and 1800MHz spectrums.

This feature phone from Reliance Jio will also have support for Internet Sharing (hotspot). If the reports are believed to be true, the device’s launch is not too far away. Even though the pre-bookings start on July 22, the device’s shipping will happen something around August 22.

Things are only going to go from bad to worse. They have not improved their network in many areas , though they have been promising from last 1 year that they will increase the cell sites. Network congestion is severe in lot of places with speeds lower than 3G. With this additional load they would not be able to handle the traffic with the current network capacity. Get prepared for even lower speeds and call drops and connectivity issues.
