Xiaomi Redmi K30 will go official on December 10 in China, the smartphone brand has confirmed today. The Redmi K30 will be the brand's first smartphone with dual-mode 5G support and dual punch-hole display. Both these features were confirmed in the past and today's teaser reaffirmed the same. The Redmi K30 has been in the news for a while, thanks to the success of Redmi K20 series across the world. It seems like Xiaomi will launch the Redmi K30 on December 10 and there's no update on whether it will launch the Redmi K30 Pro as well on the same day. According to a previous rumour, the Redmi K30 Pro will arrive in the first half of 2020 with the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm. The Redmi K30 will likely make use of the MediaTek's dual-mode 5G supported flagship SoC.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 to Offer Dual Mode 5G Support: What it Means?

5G network availability across the globe is still in nascent stages, but telecom operators in countries like the United States, United Kingdon, China, Japan and so on are already making major moves to broaden the 5G network coverage. Dual Mode 5G on smartphones refer to two modes- Non-Standalone Access (NSA) and Standalone Access (SA). Up until now, telecom operators rolled out 5G NSA in various countries, which means they made changes to the existing 4G infrastructure to achieve faster speeds and a better experience. But the 5G Standalone Access (SA) needs to be built from scratch and only a few telcos across the world are working on this right now.

Furthermore, the 5G phones released up until now all support just 5G NSA, so the Redmi K30 will have an advantage as it supports both 5G NSA and 5G SA. In India, telcos will deploy only 5G NSA in the initial stages. The Redmi K30 will also be futureproof as it supports all the future 5G technologies.

Xiaomi Redmi K30: Specifications We Know Far

The Redmi K30 will arrive as a successor to the Redmi K20 which featured upper mid-range hardware. The Redmi K30 will be a major upgrade to the Redmi K20, according to a recent leak. Xiaomi already confirmed the Redmi K30 would have a dual punch-hole display like the Samsung Galaxy S10+. As for the other specs, the phone is said to sport 120Hz refresh rate, Sony IMX686 60MP camera sensor and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi is said to be closely working with MediaTek over the last one year and the Redmi K30 is heavily rumoured to come with the chipmaker's first 5G commercial SoC. For now, Xiaomi did not confirm anything regarding the chipset to be used on the Redmi K30, but we're expecting it to be the MediaTek 5G chipset. There are no decent mid-range 5G chipsets from Qualcomm right now, but it's expected to announce new Snapdragon 700 series SoCs with 5G support in the first week of December.

The Redmi K30 may have triple rear cameras with the primary one being the 60MP Sony IMX686 sensor. Other specs of the phone are unknown at the moment, but Xiaomi will tease the key specs on Weibo in the coming days.

In other news, the 108MP camera phone Mi Note 10 is coming to India very soon, as confirmed by Xiaomi recently.
