While people are waiting for the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro, another Chinese company, Redmi, is looking ahead to launch its flagship phone on the same day. Now we already know some things about the Redmi’s latest flagship smartphone, and sadly that does not include a name. In the past few days, the flagship phone by Redmi has been making the rounds of the internet. While we know that the phone is going to be launched on May 14, a new video of the phone has surfaced which shows the pop-up selfie camera mechanism on the upcoming Redmi flagship device.
Leaked Features and Specifications of the Redmi Flagship
What’s worth noting is that the upcoming phone from Redmi has been shown in the video to sport a sideways pop-up mechanism instead of a selfie camera on the top edge of the phone. The pop-up camera, as demonstrated by the video protrudes from the left side of the device. The Redmi GM Lu Weibing has also talked about some of the key details of the device in the leaked clip. The executive revealed that the phone would pack the Snapdragon 855 and it will also come with 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC support. It has also been revealed that there will be an ultrawide camera on the back panel. The rear camera set up on the phone is expected to house triple sensors, one out of which will be an ultrawide sensor. Weibing has also confirmed about this by posting an ultrawide image shot from the upcoming Redmi flagship phone.
We have also seen the complete specifications leak of this new device from Redmi ahead of its launch on May 14. Courtesy of the pop-up selfie camera, the phone will ditch the notch and will sport a higher screen-to-body ratio thus making the screen bigger than the previous Xiaomi phones. The Redmi flagship will sport a 6.3-inch display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, and under the hood, it will rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset in pairing with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Redmi Flagship to Sport Triple Rear Camera Setup
As for the camera and imaging on this device, the triple rear camera setup will involve 48MP + 13MP + 8MP camera configuration, whereas, for the pop-up selfie camera, the device will house a 32MP selfie shooter. On the software front, the phone will boot Android 9 Pie with the Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 10 on top.
There have been many speculations about the name of the upcoming Redmi flagship device. Many expected the phone to be called the Redmi X or the Redmi Pro 2, but Weibing has dismissed these claims saying that the phone will bear a different moniker.
