Realme already confirmed that it would be the first brand to launch a smartphone with the all-new MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. Today, Realme has posted a tweet stating that it will be unveiling a new 'U' series smartphone in India very soon and it will be the world's first handset with Helio P70 chipset. Besides the new series name, the newly-formed company did not reveal any information regarding the product. Rumours on the web state the Realme's upcoming 'U' series will be a selfie-centric series taking on Xiaomi's 'Y' series of phones in the country. Maybe the smartphone will be named as Realme U1 and it could be priced aggressively under Rs 10,000 like the Realme 1.

Realme 'U' Series: What to Expect?

As noted, we don't have any information related to the specifications of this upcoming handset from the Oppo sub-brand. What we know at the moment is the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek Helio P70 chipset and it's the first phone to ship with the said SoC globally. According to a report of 91mobiles, the Realme 'U' series will be aimed at selfie lovers and it will take on Xiaomi's Redmi Y and Infinix Hot S lineup.

Right now, in India, the go-to selfie smartphone under Rs 10,000 is the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 because of the superior selfie camera performance and equally good dual rear cameras. But if the Realme's first handset under 'U' series priced under Rs 10,000, it will steal the thunder from Redmi Y2 as the Helio P70 SoC is leagues ahead of Snapdragon 625 SoC we get on the Redmi Y2.

Realme already confirmed that it would operate in the sub-Rs 20,000 price point because we already know that Oppo has a strong foothold in the offline and Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 price point. Soon after the Realme's U series smartphone, we might see a smartphone with Helio P70 SoC from Oppo as well.

Realme Unveils New Logo Reiterating the Brand Identity

Yesterday, Realme also unveiled its new logo claiming that "It’s not just a new logo! It’s a new us." As you might be aware of already, Realme is a brand aimed at youth and the company so far managed to attract them with its aggressive pricing and unique design language. But to reach more youth, Realme's coming up with 'U' selfie series which will add up for even more value. The smartphone's launch date and other details are expected to be revealed by the company on its social media handles very soon.
