Realme today announced the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones in India. The Realme 5 and 5 Pro both ship with quad cameras, big batteries and the all-new Crystal design with Holographic colour effect. The Realme 5 is the first phone in India to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, whereas the Realme 5 Pro is the second phone in the country with Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset. To recall, the Realme 3 arrived with MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, while the Realme 3 Pro offered Snapdragon 710 chipset. The Realme 5 Pro retains the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor we saw on the Realme X and the Realme 5 offers a 12MP camera sensor. The other three camera sensors on both the phones include an ultra-wide-angle lens, macro lens and Portrait lens. Prices of the Realme 5 series start at Rs 9,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 18,999.
Realme 5 Pro: Specifications and Features
The Realme 5 Pro features a similar design as the Realme 3 Pro, but the company has upgraded internals and cameras. Firstly, the design of the Realme 5 Pro has been updated and the company is now calling it as Crystal Design. Upfront, the 5 Pro features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a dewdrop notch and 90.6% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the Realme 5 Pro has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 AIE chipset, which we have seen on the Vivo Z1 Pro earlier. The phone comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage along with support for a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The high-end model of Realme 5 Pro has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
As for the cameras, the Realme 5 Pro has the primary 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, 119-degree ultra-wide-angle lens (8MP sensor), portrait lens with f/2.25 aperture and 1.12um macro lens. There's a Chroma Boost mode as well inside the camera app. The Realme 5 Pro has a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The Realme 5 Pro runs ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie and it brings new features to the table such as refined design, Real Privacy mode, Hotspot Management and Google AR Core support. Lastly, there's a 4035mAh battery inside the Realme 5 Pro and there will be VOOC 3.0 supported charger inside the retail box.

The Realme 5 features identical design as the Realme 5 Pro and it comes in two colours- Crystal Blue and Crystal Purple. The Realme 5 rocks a 6.5-inch Full-Screen display and the company did reveal the resolution of the screen is HD+. Realme 5 is the first phone in the country to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Realme 5's quad-camera setup is identical to that of the Realme 5 Pro, but the primary sensor is a 12MP one, unlike the 48MP one we get the Realme 5 Pro. The Realme 5 also runs ColorOS 6.0-based on Android 9 Pie and has a massive 5000mAh battery.
Realme 5 Pro and Realme 5: Pricing and Availability in India
The Realme 5 Pro comes in two colour options- Crystal Green and Sparkling Blue. Realme has announced three variants of the Realme 5 Pro- 4GB+64GB priced at Rs 13,999, 6GB+64GB priced at Rs 14,999 and 8GB+128GB priced at Rs 16,999. The first sale of the Realme 5 Pro will be on September 5, 2019, exclusively on Flipkart.
Coming to the Realme 5, it's the cheapest phone in the country with quad rear cameras and Snapdragon 665 chipset. The Realme 5 comes in three variants- 3GB+32GB priced at Rs 9,999, 4GB+64GB at Rs 10,999 and 4GB+128GB at Rs 11,999. The Realme 5 is also the cheapest phone in the market with 128GB of internal storage. The first sale of the Realme 5 will be on August 27, exclusively on Flipkart.
Lastly, Realme will be launching the Realme XT smartphone with 64MP quad camera setup by the end of September.
