Rcom reduces validity and data offering for Rs. 248 2G data pack

Recently we shared with you how Reliance communications had reduced the validity of 3G vouchers in Mumbai.  Now it has extended this to 2G vouchers as well. Rcom has reduced the validity of Rs. 248 2G data voucher in Mumbai circle from 60 days to 45 days, also the pack used to offer true unlimited 2G data but now offers only 45GB with free whatsapp, facebook and twitter.

reliance broadband

Voucher denomination Old benefit New benefit Old validity New validity
248 Unlimited 2G data 45 GB 2G data 60 days 45 days

Reliance is silently hiking the data tariffs by reducing the validity and bundled data offering of its data packs. Rcom is facing the burden of increased debt post the spectrum auction and is looking at options to increase cash influx which include tariff hikes and liquidation of non core businesses and real estate holdings.

Reliance has only 2G gsm license in Tamilnadu, but in 2011 the data speed of Reliance gsm was fantastic. At 1800 mhz, I think it is suitable for gprs. I used to get 36KBps (288kbps) constantly! But this speed got reduced from 2012. I think, since they have Evdo/ CDMA operation in most of Tamilnadu towns, they want to promote Evdo data cards, they lost interest in maintaining gsm/Edge speed.

Looks like RGSM has started 3G ICR with aircel (at Rs.255 for 1 GB) !!!. That too you must have active data pack to log into the aircel network. Total waste.

Aircel Tamilnadu online recharge (via aircel website) gives 1 GB data, 104 all India SMS and Rs.104 main account tslk value for Rs.204 (only data and sms is valid for 30 days).

See this link for more info epayment.aircel.com/online-recharge/

Look under topups and special recharges category.

Ok. I meant no operator gives same speed per user anywhere, anytime in its own network.
