Raxio Group Launches Largest Data Centre in DRC
Raxio Group has inaugurated its largest data center in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation. The Raxio DRC1, located in Limete, Kinshasa, represents a USD 30 million investment and boasts Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute. The company noted that the project was completed in record time since breaking ground on construction in early 2023.

Facility Details and Features

Spanning 1,542 square meters over two stories, the facility houses up to 400 racks and delivers 1.5 MW of IT power. Raxio DRC1 is designed to provide high-quality colocation and connectivity services. The center is situated along key fiber routes, ensuring advanced power and cooling systems for its colocation and connectivity services.

"DRC is one of Africa's largest and fastest-growing markets with a latent demand for digital products and services that is forecast to soar in the coming years. With this facility, we are providing the critical infrastructure essential for supporting the digital economy and enhancing connectivity. We expect to expand our presence in DRC through additional capacity and new facilities in the years to come," said Raxio Group.

Expansion in Africa

Raxio Group has also expanded into Ethiopia and Mozambique this year, and opened its first data center in Uganda in 2021. The launch of Raxio DRC1 marks the opening of Raxio’s fourth facility this year, with 1.5 MW being the group's largest Day 1 capacity to date, the official release said.

The DRC launch aligns with the government's Plan National du Numerique to use extensive digitalisation as a catalyst for economic growth, competitiveness, and social inclusion, while enabling a range of public and private sector cloud-based digital services, Raxio Group said.

As Africa's carrier-neutral Tier III data center operator, Raxio Group now has operational facilities in Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and will soon be operational in Cote d'Ivoire, Tanzania, and Angola.
