Apart from the radio channels operated by All India Radio – the public broadcaster, as per the data reported by FM radio operators to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), as of September 30, 2024, there are 388 operational private FM radio channels in 113 cities operated by 36 private FM radio operators. Compared to the previous quarter, there is no change in the number of operational private FM radio channels, cities, or FM radio operators.

Advertisement Revenue
According to the data reported by FM radio operators to TRAI, the advertisement revenue for these 388 channels during the quarter ending September 30, 2024 amounted to Rs 423.52 crore. This represents a slight decline from the Rs 428.45 crore recorded in the previous quarter.

Community Radio Stations in India
Additionally, there are 513 community radio stations currently in operation across the country, TRAI said in its "Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators" report for July–September 2024.
