India’s GSM operators added a 0.24 million subscribers in October 2012 as per COAI data. The total number of GSM subscribers increased to 671.91 million as of October, a 0.04 per cent rise from 671.67 million users as of September. In September 2012, the subscriber base had reduced by 1.9 million users following a huge 7.1 million dip in August 2012 subscriber base.
The top three operators Vodafone Airtel and Idea added over 1.2 million users in October 2012 Airtel led the subscriber additions for the reporting month by gaining around 0.49 million users. The GSM operator gained a total of 186.41 million subscribers, while it also maintained its top position with a 27.74 per cent market share.
Vodafone India added 0.48 million users during the month taking its total to 153.15 million users Vodafone had a 22.79 per cent market share as of October. Idea Cellular had added 0.24 million users during the month, increasing its total subscriber base to about 115.70 million as of October.
However, Uninor and Videocon lost 1.1 million subscribers and 59,151 subscribers in October. The subscriber base of Uninor stood at 41.03 million, while that of Videocon stood was at 4.39 million by reporting month.
