Oppo silently slashed the prices of Reno 2Z and Reno 2F smartphones in India. It has become a habit for Oppo to launch smartphones at higher prices and reduce them within two or three months. We have seen the Oppo A9 2020 and Oppo A5 2020 receiving the price cut in recent times, and now, it's time for the Oppo Reno 2Z and Reno 2F smartphones to get the same treatment. The Oppo Reno 2F and Reno 2Z are upper mid-range smartphones in the country and they became affordable by Rs 2,000. After the price cut, the Oppo Reno 2Z will be available at Rs 27,990, whereas the Reno 2F can be picked up for Rs 23,990. The price cut is already effective across offline channels, says an offline retailer.

Oppo Reno 2F and Reno 2Z Become Affordable by Rs 2,000 in India

The first-gen Oppo Reno products were priced quite competitively, however, the Reno 2 series of phones are priced on the steeper side. That said, the reason behind the steep prices for Reno 2 series is the change of strategy- offline market. The Oppo Reno and Reno 10X Zoom smartphones were aimed at the online market, while the Reno 2 series is focussed at offline stores.

To recall, the Oppo Reno 2F was priced at Rs 25,990 in the Indian market and the new price is Rs 23,990. Coming to the Reno 2Z, the launch price of the smartphone was Rs 29,990, and it's now retailing for Rs 27,990. The price cut is already effective across offline stores, as confirmed by Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. Notably, the Reno 2F is available at the new price on Flipkart, whereas the Reno 2Z is still being sold at Rs 29,990. Flipkart may reduce the price of Reno 2Z by the end of the day.

Oppo Reno 2Z and Reno 2F: Are They Worth After the Price Cut?

The Oppo Reno and Reno 10X Zoom smartphones impressed with camera performance and the features they offered at the respective prices. That's not the case with Oppo Reno 2 series; The Reno 2 with Snapdragon 730G was launched at Rs 39,990 (now available at Rs 36,990). The Oppo Reno 2 series has three phones- Reno 2, Reno 2F and the Reno 2Z.

As for the specs, the Reno 2F rocks a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As for the camera setup, it has a primary 48MP sensor, 8MP secondary sensor and two 2MP sensors for macro and portrait shots. On the front, the Reno 2F has a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 charging support.

Moving onto the Reno 2Z, it has the same 6.53-inch Full HD+ display, same quad-camera setup and 4000mAh battery. However, the Reno 2Z comes with the MediaTek Helio P90 SoC and it's the only phone in the country with the said chipset.

The Oppo Reno 2 series is known for the camera performance, but on the spec-to-price ratio, they fall short when compared to the likes of Redmi K20, Realme XT and even the Redmi Note 8 Pro. If you're looking for a smartphone that can deliver strong camera performance, then choose the Oppo Reno 2F under Rs 25,000 and Reno 2Z under Rs 30,000.
