Oppo Electronics, the third largest phone brand in India, is set to debut their online-only sub-brand called Realme exclusively on Amazon. The brand will mark a new phase for the company as it looks to take on sub-brands like Honor and Redmi that primarily dominate the budget to mid-range segment. The first smartphone, the Realme 1 will launch in Delhi today, and the event will kick off 12:30 PM IST. The launch will be live streamed on Realme’s YouTube and Facebook pages in the country. Last week, Realme CEO, Madhav Seth confirmed the Realme 1 would be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. He said this combined with a good battery backup and ultra-affordable pricing would make the smartphone a formidable rival to Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1.

Complete specifications of the Realme 1 also leaked online a day ahead of its launch. A Twitter user with the handle @bang_gogo_ posted the entire spec sheet on social media. The Realme 1 is said to feature a 6-inch IPS LCD display with an FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 screen aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the Realme 1 is powered by MediaTek MTK6771 processor (also called as Helio P60) coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The Realme 1 is a dual-SIM smartphone with hybrid SIM slot that also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot.

In the photography department, the Realme 1 is said to feature a 13MP primary camera with phase detect autofocus and support for AI-based depth effect. The device will sport an 8MP front camera along with portrait mode. The mid-range phone is tipped to house a 3410mAh battery and Realme also teased an AI battery management feature to give the phone extra juice.

The Realme 1 will Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.0 layered on top. Notably, the smartphone lacks a fingerprint scanner and will instead support face unlock feature. The Realme 1 will come in a Black Diamond design similar to the Oppo F7 to target “youth” in the budget segment.

There is no word on pricing and availability at this point, but we expect to know more when the company unveils the smartphone later today.
