OnePlus will continue to sell devices via the invite system in India for some time

OnePlus had recently mentioned their plans to enter the Indian market by the end of this year. They also ditched the invite systems to buy their devices this week, moving on to pre-order based system. But don't get your hopes too high just yet. As per Carl Pei, when they officially enter the Indian market, they will continue to sell the device through invite-only system for some time before they start to pre-orders "at some stage". The invites will be distributed through their official forums or social media.

As with our current launch countries, Indian users will be able to purchase the One with an India specific invite. Invites have been immensely helpful for us thus far in our current launch countries. They allow us to control our inventory, scale our team and support services to grow along with demand and create an overall better experience for those users with the One.

As this is our first experience with the Indian market, we didn't want to be too ambitious. We are more concerned with offering outstanding service and experiences for users than getting the One in as many hands as possible. It will take us some time to learn and the invites are a great way for us to do that.

- Carl Pei, OnePlus Director

Carl Pei, the Director at OnePlus, also said that further details will be revealed in the coming weeks. The company still hasn't revealed the name of the e-commerce partner or if the existing Indian users, who imported the device, will have a warranty. What do you guys think of this move from OnePlus? Would you still be interested in buying this device?
