OnePlus is one of the few brands in the market right now which takes the software updates section seriously. The Chinese company has now announced ‘OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule‘ programme guaranteeing platform updates for two years and security patch updates for three years. OnePlus confirmed that it would provide two years of regular software updates from the release date of the phone including new features added by Google, Android versions, Android security patches and bug fixes. Once the two-year period completes, OnePlus will be releasing monthly Android security patch updates for every two months for the next one year, meaning users will get six security patch updates. This schedule applies for the OnePlus 3/3T, OnePlus 5/5T and the newly launched OnePlus 6, and will be effective immediately.

“As per the maintenance schedule, there will be 2 years of regular software updates from the release date of the phone (release dates of T variants would be considered), including new features, Android versions, Android security patches and bug fixes and an additional year of Android security patch updates every 2 months,” said OnePlus in a blog post.
The OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T smartphones were released back in 2016, and they’ve now completed a two-year period. OnePlus stated that it would be publishing one last Open Beta build for the OnePlus 3/3T smartphones later this week and during the first week of July, a stable version of the same will be pushed out for beta testers to migrate back to the stable version of OxygenOS. On the whole, OnePlus is stopping the OxygenOS Open Beta development for the OnePlus 3 and 3T.
