As we are nearing the launch of the new OnePlus device, OnePlus has started seeding a new OxygenOS Open Beta for its previous phones, namely the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The latest update brings a slew of new features to these devices, such as live background app activity while using Quick Reply feature in landscape mode, new UI for system updates, and better search functionality in the OnePlus Community app. Although the update is rolled out for both generation phones, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 6 variants, there will be a slight change in the update in the case of OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T Open Beta because the list of features for these devices will also include a new Intelligent Cleanup feature in the File Manager.

OnePlus OxygenOS Open Beta New Features

Head of Global Product and Operations Manager at OnePlus, Manu J made the official announcement about the Open Beta for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T in a post on official OnePlus forum. The executive also detailed the changelog of the new update which has started rolling out for the users of these devices. It is worth noting that the highlight of this new update is that it comes with a new, improved Quick Reply feature which functions without any issue in landscape orientation.

It is worth noting that while users resorted to using the Quick Reply feature in the landscape mode the app activity used to stop. But, owing to the new Open Beta update this issue has been fixed. In the changelog, OnePlus has also announced support for more instant messaging applications that are compatible with the native Quick Reply feature while using the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T in landscape mode. However, OnePlus has not noted the names of any specific applications in this regard.

The changelog has also listed another feature which fixes the system issue associated with sending device overheating warning. Apart from this, the system update page has been revamped to feature a brand new look. There have been changes made to the OnePlus community app as well, and these changes include improved Social Page UI, new search field and arrival of grouped search results across different categories. In addition to that, the log recording feature in the Bug Report section has also been optimised by OnePlus.

To reiterate, in addition to all the new features and fixes which OnePlus has introduced for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the other two phones which are slated to receive the update, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will also feature an intelligent cleanup feature for file manager. However, it is crucial to note that this feature will currently be available only for Indian users of these devices.
