OnePlus 6T Global Launch Preponed to October 29

OnePlus has now announced the preponement of its OnePlus 6T's launch to October 29. OnePlus took this major decision to avoid the collision with Apple which recently sent out media invites for a hardware event on October 30. Notably, if not for the preponement, the launch events of OnePlus and Apple would have taken place with just one hour gap in New York. Incidentally, Apple is also holding its launch event in New York City in the United States. It's not a small feat for OnePlus to change the date of a global event, but OnePlus doesn't want to be overshadowed by Apple. OnePlus wants everyone to witness its latest innovation together. The Chinese handset maker also confirmed that it would incur costs of those who booked their hotels and flights for October 30.

OnePlus 6T Global Launch to Take Place on October 29

Earlier this month, OnePlus announced that it would be launching the OnePlus 6T on October 30, and by the time Apple sent out event invites, OnePlus already sold its event tickets. "When we announced the launch of the OnePlus 6T on October 8, we were convinced our timing would allow us to maximise the amount of people we could reach with our message. That changed when Apple announced they would be hosting their own event on October 30," wrote Pete Lau, OnePlus' CEO in a forum post.

As you might be aware of, Cupertino giant, Apple will be hosting an event on October 30 in New York where it's expected to unveil new iPad Pro, MacBook Air and several other hardware products. That said, Apple's October 30 event is expected to be a major one as we'll get to see several new products from the company. So, OnePlus had to sit back and think what if they hold the event on October 30. OnePlus discussed it with several global press contacts, only to hear that Apple 'll overshadow them if they go ahead with the scheduled launch. "They showed us that if we chose to stick to our original timeline, launching the OnePlus 6T on October 30, we would be overshadowed by Apple," added Pete Lau in the same forum post.

Furthermore, Pete Lau stated that OnePlus doesn't want one of the important products in their history to be affected by another great product launch, and they've rescheduled the event to October 29. "We have only just begun our journey and cannot afford to let one of the most important products in our history be affected by another great product launch. So after deep reflection, we have decided to move the OnePlus 6T Launch Event in New York City to October 29," he added.

OnePlus 6T India Launch to Take Place on October 30

While the global launch of the OnePlus 6T has been preponed to October 29, there's no word on the rescheduling of the Indian launch though. To recall, OnePlus sent out media invites for both the global and India event at the same time on October 30, but the global launch has now been shifted to October 29. David Y, Community Manager of OnePlus posted that there won't be any changes to the India launch event of the OnePlus 6T. OnePlus will be launching the 6T in India on October 30 at 8:30 PM in New Delhi.
