OnePlus' best-selling smartphone, the OnePlus 6 will be available for purchase at Rs 29,999 during the Amazon Great Indian Sale. For the unaware, the Amazon Great Indian sale kickstarts on October 10 and concludes on October 15. During the five-day sale period, the OnePlus 6 can be purchased for Rs 5,000 less than its original price of Rs 34,999. Notably, this is the first time OnePlus has discounted the OnePlus 6 since its launch and it makes complete sense as we're closing in towards the launch of OnePlus 6T which will replace its predecessor. Soon after the launch of 6T, OnePlus will most likely discontinue the older OnePlus 6 sticking to its philosophy of concentrating on a single device at one time.
OnePlus 6 at Rs 29,999: Should You Buy it?
OnePlus finally realised that the OnePlus 6 needs a discount to tackle the Poco F1 by Xiaomi. Sporting the same Snapdragon 845 SoC as we get on the OnePlus 6, the Poco F1 is retailing at a starting price of Rs 20,999. And with the OnePlus 6T launch nearing, OnePlus has to make this change to drive the sales and stock out the OnePlus 6. Now the biggest question is: Should you buy the OnePlus 6 at Rs 29,999.
It's a Yes and No. Yes is for people who're looking for the best smartphone under Rs 30,000 and also for users who can't stretch their budget to Rs 35,000. No is for people who can afford a bit more and for those, the answer is: wait for the OnePlus 6T which is coming later this month or on October 17 itself.
Having said that, right now, Amazon revealed only the price of the base variant as Rs 29,999, but most likely, other variants of the OnePlus 6 will also be available at discounted prices.
OnePlus 6: Specifications and Features
The OnePlus 6 used to be a go-to smartphone for many users under Rs 40,000 a couple of months ago. But the arrival of Asus Zenfone 5Z and Poco F1 dented the sales of the phone, although very marginally. When the OnePlus 6 arrived, it was a runaway success for the brand as it achieved Rs 100 crores of revenue in an hour.
The OnePlus 6 flaunts a 6.26-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display on the front, which has an aspect ratio of 19:9. Underneath, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, clubbed with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage. Users will not get any microSD card option for storage expansion.
OnePlus has added dual cameras of 16MP+20MP on the rear side, followed by a 16MP front-facing camera. The phone is armed with a 3300mAh battery and a physical fingerprint scanner is placed at the back.
You Should Probably Wait for the OnePlus 6T
OnePlus is currently gearing up for the launch of OnePlus 6T in India. According to leaked information, the global launch event for the OnePlus 6T will be held in India on October 17, but there's no confirmation yet from the brand. OnePlus already confirmed the 6T would have an in-display fingerprint scanner and a waterdrop notch which looks way better than the bigger notch we saw on the OnePlus 6.
Other specifications of the 6T include Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 8GB of RAM, dual rear cameras and a bigger 3700mAh battery.
