OnePlus has always focused on delivering the best user experience. To recall, the OnePlus 6 was one of the first smartphones to get upgraded to Google latest Android OS version, Android 9 Pie. It has just been some days from the launch of the OnePlus 6T and the smartphone has already received its first update with improvements in the screen unlock. OnePlus always ensure to keep its old phones updated too. In line with the same, OnePlus has now announced the rollout of OxygenOS 5.1.7 update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

To recall, OnePlus, rolled out OxygenOS 5.1.6 update to both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T in the month of October, but the update was later pulled. The update was pulled after some users reported about many Bluetooth issues that the update brought along with it. The new OxygenOS 5.1.7 update brings fix to the Bluetooth issues together with Android Security update for October.

The OxygenOS 5.1.7 update comes with the fixes for the many Bluetooth issues reported by the users. The changelog reveals that the latest OxygenOS 5.1.7 update brings improvement in the Bluetooth stability for phone calls and connectivity in cars. The update also comes with the October Android security patch.

Overall, the size of the update for those who installed the previous OxygenOS 5.1.6 update is around 38MB, while the OnePlus 5 and 5T users who decided to skip the previous update will see a bigger update size. According to a Reddit user, the update size is around 1622MB. Considering the update size is pretty big, it is recommended to connect your OnePlus 5 or 5T to a Wi-Fi network.

How to Install the OxygenOS 5.1.7 Update

The OxygenOS 5.1.7 is rolling out to all OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users via over-the-air (OTA) update. To download and install the update, users with one of the two compatible phones will need to head to the Setting menu, then to updates and can then check if there are updates available. If there are updates pending, ensure to connect the phone to a Wi-Fi network and backup all your data before installing the update.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple comes with a price tag of Rs 41,999 and will go on sale for the first time in India on November 16.
