In the month of July 2018, OnePlus had said that they would bring Android 9 Pie software update to the OnePus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones by the end of the year. But sadly that didn’t happen. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had said that Android 9 Pie update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T have been delayed as the developers need some more time to work on the Pie update for these phones. We are already two months through 2019 and OnePlus has finally announced the coming of Android 9 Pie for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The company has said a new security update is coming to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T and right after that the Pie update will come to the two phones.

Android 9 Pie Coming to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

OnePlus community manager David Y has confirmed the Android 9 Pie update coming for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. He said that OnePlus would roll out the security patch based on Android 8.1 Oreo first and that will be followed by Android 9 Pie which both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T for which users have been waiting for a very long time now. He posted “Can't you guys just go and do something more meaningful than chasing the update...(facepalm)” on the OnePlus Community page.

Sadly the Community manager has not confirmed the timeline or the date when the Android 9 Pie will come to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users. So far, the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T run on Google latest Android 9 Pie update. To recollect, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T was updated to Android 9 Pie in December last year, while OnePlus 6 received the update in September 2018 while the OnePlus 6T was launched running on Android Pie out-of-the-box.

OnePlus 5 and 5T Get Google Duo Integration

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have started receiving OxygenOS 9.0.4 update which brings Google Duo integration, bug fixes, and general system improvements. The Oxygen OS 9.0.4 update also comes with January Android security patch. On rolling out the update, OnePlus says that it is being released beginning today and will be rolled out to limited users in the initial days.

The company has also noted that the rollout will happen on a massive scale in the next few days for both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users. The update brings network stability and deep integration with Google Duo. The update also adds Duo video calling capabilities to “Call Logs, Contacts, Dial Pad, and Messaging” on both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

In other news, OnePlus is also testing a brand new E-Sports mode inside its Gaming Mode that will enhance the gaming performance even more. The E-Sports mode is already available with the latest OxygenOS Open Beta update to the OnePlus 5, 5T, 6 and 6T smartphones.
