HMD Global has launched five smartphones at its Mobile World Congress 2019 event on Sunday night. The company launched the Nokia 9 PureView – which is no doubt the most anticipated phones from HMD Global this year. Alongside the Nokia 9 PureView, the company also launched Nokia 210 feature phone, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 4.2 smartphones. Except for the Nokia 210, all the other Nokia phones are follow up of their predecessors launched at last year’s MWC. The only phone that is a brand new one and not a follow up is the Nokia 210, which is the cheapest Internet device from HMD Global so far. The Nokia 210 has been launched at a price tag of $35 which roughly translates to Rs 2,500. Like all Nokia phones, it is expected that the Nokia 210 will also come to India very soon. The company is yet to officially talk about the launch timeline of the phone. However, what is sure is that when the Nokia 210 launches in India, the phone will compete with some of the smart feature phones like JioPhone 2. The JioPhone 2 is available for Rs 2,999 in India.

Nokia 210 vs JioPhone 2: Design and Display

The Nokia 210 looks like a normal feature phone. The Nokia phone comes with a T9 keyboard and a slim portfolio, in comparison the Nokia 210 comes with a QWERTY keypad with a pretty broad portfolio. The Nokia 210 comes packed with a 2.4-inch TFT display while the JioPhone 2 includes a 2.4-inch QVGA display.

Both the Nokia and JioPhone incorporates a camera on the back. On the rear panel, the Nokia 210 includes a VGA camera paired with an LED flash, while the JioPhone 2 packs a 2MP camera on the back panel. Sadly, the Nokia phone doesn’t include a front facing camera, but the JioPhone 2 does. The JioPhone 2 sports a 0.3MP selfie shooter.

Nokia 210 vs JioPhone 2: Hardware, Software and Battery

HMD Global’s newly launches Nokia 210 runs on the company’s S30 platform. The Nokia 210 comes packed with some pre-loaded apps like Opera Mini, Facebook, and others. The interesting bit is the Nokia 210 comes bundled with the classic Snake game. The Nokia phone also comes with dual SIM support.

In comparison, the JioPhone 2 runs on KaiOS. The JioPhone 2 is capable of running apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, among others. The JioPhone 2 also comes pre-loaded with all the Jio Apps like JioCinema, MyJio app, among others.

The Nokia 210 is backed by a 1020mAh battery which Nokia says can offer up to 20 days of standby time, the JioPhone 2, on the other hand, comes with 2000mAh battery. Jio claims that JioPhone 2 can offer a standby time of up to 15 days. As for the connectivity options, the JioPhone 2 offers 4G VoLTE support while the Nokia 210 lacks it.

Nokia 210 vs JioPhone 2: Conclusion

At the launch event, HMD said the Nokia 210 would retail at a global price of $35 (approx. Rs 2,450). The JioPhone 2 is available at Rs 2,999 and it also has exclusive tariff plans from Reliance Jio. The Nokia 210 not only lacks 4G connectivity, but it also falls behind in other aspects.
