Motorola One Action will be the next Android One smartphone launching in India. Motorola India has officially confirmed the launch date of the handset as August 23, just a couple of days after the Realme 5 series and Xiaomi Mi A3 launch. The Motorola One Action is the fourth smartphone under Motorola's One series of phones and it comes with a unique feature justifying the Action tag in its name. The One Action is capable of recording videos in landscape even though if you hold the phone vertically. The company is marketing this feature heavily, but besides this feature, there are not many differences between the Motorola One Action and the recently launched Motorola One Vision smartphones. The Motorola One Action was officially launched a couple of days ago in international markets and it may reach the Indian market with similar specs.

Motorola One Action: Specifications and Features

Aforesaid, the One Action features identical specifications as the Motorola One Vision that was launched in India a couple of months ago. The USP of the One Action is its 21:9 display on the front; The smartphone rocks a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS CinemaVision screen on the front, sporting a resolution of 1080x2520 pixels and 21:9 aspect ratio. It's an IPS LCD display and not an AMOLED panel as we saw in mid-range smartphones released in the last few weeks.

Under the hood, the smartphone has the Samsung Exynos 9609 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. However, in India, we might see the Lenovo-owned company launching the only variant of the One Action with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Motorola did confirm the One Action has a microSD card slot for expanding storage up to 512GB.

As for the software, the One Action runs Android 9 Pie out of the box and comes with a guarantee of two major software updates- Android Q and Android R. The phone is backed by a 3500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a USB Type-C port.

Motorola is heavily teasing the cameras on the One Action smartphone. The One Action sports triple rear camera setup comprising of a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an action camera with a wide-angle lens and a 5MP depth sensor. The action camera is a unique one on this smartphone as it can capture videos in landscape even if the phone is in portrait position, which is unique. As for the selfies, we get a 12MP shooter with f/2.0 and 1.25um pixels.

The Motorola One Action also offers a 3.5mm headphone action and comes with sensors like the fingerprint scanner on the back, ambient light, gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity and magnetometer.

Motorola One Action: Expected Pricing in India

Motorola hasn't been that aggressive in the Indian market over the last couple of years. The One Power was the last aggressively priced Motorola phone in India as the company changed its strategy of Moto G series in the sub-continent. The recently launched Motorola One Vision was launched at Rs 19,990 and it was immediately on sale with Rs 2,000 off at Rs 17,990. The Motorola One Action sports similar specs as the One Vision along with some new camera features, so we're expecting the One Action to be priced more than the One Vision in India. And yes, the phone will be exclusive to Flipkart in the sub-continent.

As for the European pricing of the smartphone, the One Action costs 259 Euros (approx. Rs 21,000), but the Indian pricing may be on the higher side. The official launch of the smartphone is set for August 23, so stay tuned for the pricing and availability details.
