Motorola is finally here with its flagship offering of 2018 – the Moto Z3. The Moto Z3’s name resembles its close brother which is the Moto Z3 Play. However, there are quite some differences between the two phones. The highlight of this phone is the latest 5G Mod which Moto ships in the Z3. While the Moto Z3 Play is already selling in Brazil, the Moto Z3 is scheduled to launch shortly. Also, the Moto Z3 Play is expected to come to India soon. Moto Z3 vs Moto Z3 Play: Performance, Hardware Specifications
The Moto Z3 Play, and the Moto Z3 both sport the 6-inch Super AMOLED Max Vision display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D shaped Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The RAM is also similar on both the phones and they come with 4GB memory. While the Play edition is available in two variants of 32GB and 64GB, the Z3 is available in a single 64GB option. There is also the microSD support for expanding storage.

The significant difference is seen on the inside configuration as the Moto Z3 Play packs a 14nm Octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset clocking a frequency of 1.8 GHz; the SoC comes paired with Adreno 509 GPU for graphics. The Moto Z3 goes a bit further regarding processing power as it sports an Octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC clocking a frequency of 2.35GHz, it gets paired with the Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. The Moto Z3 significantly outperforms the Moto Z3 Play in processing power and graphics.

Concerning camera and imaging, the Moto Z3 Play sports a 12MP + 5MP dual rear-camera setup. The primary sensor comes with a f/1.7 aperture, while the secondary 5MP sensor comes with a f/2.2 aperture. Unlike the Moto Z3 Play, the Moto Z3 comes with a 12MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture which comes paired with a 12 MP monochrome sensor. There is also a dual-LED flash, and the effective resolution of the camera is 1.25um pixels.

The Moto Z3 and Z3 Play, both come with Google Lens, which means that whenever the phone is pointed towards an object, building, shop, establishment or geographical landmark then it can display information about the particular object in the frame.

The Moto Z3 Play features an 8MP shooter on the front with a f/2.0 aperture, while the Moto Z3 comes with an 8MP front camera with 1.12um pixel size and a wide-angle 84-degree lens. One major innovation which Motorola has done is placing the fingerprint sensor on the edge of the device to the side, instead of putting it on the front or back.

Both the Moto Z3 and the Moto Z3 Play pack 3000mAh batteries. The phones also come with Motorola’s proprietary TurboCharge technology, and the charger of the devices also supports TurboCharge.

Both the phones also boot Android 8.1 Oreo with a clean and pure stock experience. There is also a new gesture navigation UI which is spotted on the phones, and it is usable via a slider button.

Moto Z3 vs Moto Z3 Play: Pricing
In Brazil, the Moto Z3 retails for $ 2,299 (approx. Rs 41,400) In the US, the device bears a price tag of $499 (approx. Rs 34,000) equipped with a Battery Moto Mod. In India, the price of the phone is expected to stick around Rs 30,000. On the other hand, the Moto Z3 debuted with a price of $480 (approx. Rs 32,600). However, being a flagship device, the phone is expected to come with a slightly higher cost. The deciding factor between the two phones remains the processing power and the pricing. While the Z3 fares better than the Z3 Play in terms of performance, the pricing will decide how the phone is received in the Indian market.
