Well, Motorola Moto G 3rd Gen users in India have been waiting for this moment for quite some time. Fulfilling its promise, Motorola has finally begun the roll out of Android 6.0 update to its Moto G 3rd Generation smartphone in India. The news was announced via Motorola India’s official Twitter handle. The tweet read, “Here is something new and amazing for your Moto G (3rd Gen.), the Android 6.0 Marshmallow!”
For all the Moto G 3rd Gen users in India, if the update notification has not appeared on your device yet, you can also check for it manually. Simply go to Settings > About Phone > System Update on your smartphone. If the update still doesn't show up, then you gotta wait as these updates take some time to reach every device. I just checked my Moto G 3rd Gen, and sadly, it has not received the update yet.
Here is a heads up about the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update for the Moto G (3rd Gen). The version for the update has been named as v24.11.25, which is 2GB in size (it's huge, so you will need to clear up some storage on your phone to make space). The update brings along Android security update (patches) for December. It will also introduce a host of new features such as overhauled app permissions, Doze, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay, and many more.
Of course, since this is a Motorola device, your phone will continue to run a near-stock version of Android even after the Marshmallow update. Motorola's Migrate and Moto Assist apps have been removed, as similar features are now built in on Android 6.0. It's impressive how the Lenovo-owned company has rolled out Android 6.0 to so many devices in such a short time. The latest version of the operating system has also been released to the Moto X Play; it hasn't made it to the device in India yet, but it shouldn't be long before that changes.
Have you received Marshmallow on your Moto G 3rd Gen yet?
