Xiaomi will be rolling out the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.12.28 this week, and the company will be adding new Gestures to its Full Display smartphones. Currently, Xiaomi has the Mi Mix 2 available in the global markets, and this upcoming update will add gestures support for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Xiaomi just announced three new gestures which will be added in the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.12.28 and these gestures are similar to Apple iPhone X gestures.
As stated, Xiaomi will be adding three new gestures to its Full Display smartphones. The first one is 'Swipe from bottom to top,' the second one is 'Swipe from bottom to top and then stop for a second,' and the last one is 'Swipe from left or right to the middle.'
The first gesture Swipe from bottom to top brings you to the home screen; the second gesture 'Swipe from bottom to top and then stop for a second' takes you to the recent apps screen. And the third one- 'Swipe from left or right to the middle' takes you to the home screen. These are the same gestures introduced by Apple with the iPhone X.
In addition, Xiaomi will be fixing critical bugs in the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.12.28. These bug fixes include app vault getting force closed, and some dual app WhatsApp fixes. Here's the changelog for the update:
- Fix - Top sites setting got restored automatically in Mi Browser
- Fix - Dual app for WhatsApp cannot add contact member from group

Usually, Xiaomi releases a new Global Beta update every Friday. So, expect the same this week as well. As said earlier, these new gestures will be available only for Xiaomi Full Display smartphones such as the Mi Mix 2, Redmi 5, and Redmi 5 Plus.
However, the official MIUI forum page states that the update will bring the gestures support to only Mi Mix 2. Maybe, Xiaomi will roll out these features to the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphone when they launch them in international markets.
Users already on the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM will receive the latest 7.12.28 version via an OTA update. If you're not on the Global Beta ROM, you need to flash it manually. Also, Xiaomi will be releasing the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.12.28 as a recovery file when it goes official.
