The popular benchmark platform Geekbench introduced the new Micromax YU5 on its website revealing the key specifications and some detailed insight into its performance. Although the Micromax YU5 doesn’t come with the Snapdragon 845 chipset which is the best in its class right now, the phone does offers impressive stats in regards to its performance. The processing power of the Micromax YU5 is being churned in by the Snapdragon 625 SoC. The chipset is same as the one which is being used in the Xiaomi Mi A1 and several other Xiaomi and Motorola smartphones.

The Mi A1 is being claimed as a similar phone to the Micromax YU5. Also, the Xiaomi phone is part of the Android One program making it eligible for the monthly security patches and updates. If the Android One is seen on the Micromax YU5, it will be another reason to buy the phone. Micromax might launch this smartphone under its child brand Yu Televentures.

Talking about the statistics on Geekbench, the phone was able to clock a speed of 1.80 GHz by its Snapdragon 625 chip, which although is the lowest possible clock speed on the Geekbench site but is not surprising because of throttling of the clocking speed for the tests. As such, the Micromax YU5 comes with eight Cortex-A53 cores running at 2.0 GHz.

The Micromax YU5 does not miss out on the other features and ships with Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box. The extremely efficient processor consisting of Cortex-A53 cores makes the phone last longer on the stamina front. Users can expect longer standby time on a single charge, and the battery on the phone is said to be 3000mAh.

The only factor which might be a slight disappointment for the buyers is the 2GB RAM which accompanies the Snapdragon 625 processor. In 2018, where smartphones are releasing handsets with up to 6GB of RAM at extremely competitive pricing, a memory of 2GB is surely a negative point. However, Micromax can still compensate the lack of enough RAM with an attractive price tag. The pricing of the phone with all the given specifications can make it a worthy purchase.
